From September 28, 2017, all researchers at UvA and AUAS have access to UvA/AUAS figshare: a new system for safely storing, controlled sharing and publication of research data.
In UvA/AUAS figshare you can store your research data safely and still have access: your files are stored on ISO certified servers in Germany, and you can access them from any computer with an internet connection.
Sharing data with others
You can allow others to access files you have stored in UvA/AUAS figshare. Those others may be UvA or AUAS colleagues, but also students, colleagues from other institutions within and outside of the Netherlands, and partners from business or societal organisations.
Publishing data
Does your funder or your publisher ask you to make your data available to others? Via UvA/AUAS figshare you can easily publish your data, embargoed if necessary. Your file is assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI), a unique permanent link you can use in articles and presentations.
Access to UvA/AUAS figshare
For security reasons, two-factor authentication is required to access UvA/AUAS figshare: you log in with your UvAnetID or HvAID, and confirm your identity with a code that is sent to your mobile phone.
Figshare LLP is an independent company, in which investor Digital Science Ltd. has a non-controlling stake. Digital Science Ltd. is owned by the German Holtzbrinck Publishing Group. Figshare LLP is the company behind figshare.com and figshare for institutions, of which UvA/AUAS figshare is an 'instance'.
All data and files that are uploaded to UvA/AUAS figshare are and will remain UvA and AUAS property. Figshare LLP is contractually obliged to comply with an exit strategy, should UvA and AUAS decide not to continue using figshare for institutions.
