For security reasons, two-factor authentication is required to access UvA/AUAS figshare: you log in with your UvAnetID or HvAID, and confirm your identity with a code that is sent to your mobile phone.

First time users

To receive login codes via the tiqr app, you’ll need to connect your phone to your UvA or AUAS account. This is a one-time-only process, prior to logging in for the first time, and is described in the flyer below.

Please note: students cannot make use of UvA/AUAS figshare.

After having received a one-time-only activation code, you visit either a Service Desk at a UvA Library or AUAS campus to have your phone activated for two factor authentication or you follow the online procedure described below.

Activating your phone at a Service Desk

You will be asked to present identification (passport, driver’s license), so the Service Desk can establish your identity. Please note: the activation code expires after 14 days.

Service Desk personnel can also help you if you should encounter any issues in activating your phone.

Activating your phone through online procedure

  1. Complete the online steps to activate your phone to handle the Tiqr app. You can find a manual on the top of this page.
  2. After you’ve received a one-time only activation code, you submit a request for online validation as a UvA researcher to the Library here and as a AUAS researcher to the Servicedesk ICTS here via an email from your AUAS mail-account. Please note: the online code is valid for 14 days only, so make sure you’re on time.
  3. From the Library or ICTS, you’ll receive an email telling you what you’ll need for the online validation: a valid ID (passport or driver’s license); your employee card; your laptop with Skype for Business installed and ready to use (more info: UvA & AUAS) and your phone. Possibly the Library or ICTS will also tell you to do the online steps, but you’ve done them already.
  4. The Library or ICTS sets an appointment to activate your phone in a Skype for Business session.
  5. Together with someone from the Library or ICTS you’ll go through the activation process:
    1. You’ll be asked for the activation code you received after the online procedure;
    2. The Library or ICTS employee will look this code up and send a code to your phone;
    3. You’ll be asked for the code that has been sent to your phone;
    4. Your identity is checked, based on the valid ID you’re able to show (the Library or ICTS employee will take down the last six digits of the number of the document).
  6. Your UvAnetID or your HvAID and your phone have been successfully connected to each other. You’re able to login to UvA/AUAS figshare, your personnel file and other applications that require two factor authentication.
  7. If you receive an error during logging in, please contact RDM Support.

Changing your phone number

If your phone number changes, you first remove your old phone number from the SURFconext registration. To do so, you visit the SURFconext website. Choose your university and log in with your UvAnetID or HvAID. You’ll see which phone number is registered for you and are able to remove that number. Then you follow the registration procedure for your new number.

Personal data security

The login process takes place within SURFconext. Your phone number will not be shared with figshare.

Duration of access

Your access to UvA/AUAS figshare is connected to your employment at UvA or AUAS: it will end 90 days after your employment at UvA or AUAS ends (just like, for example, access to your UvA or AUAS email account). From that date on, your account in UvA/AUAS figshare will be managed by the data steward of your faculty or research institute.
